Abstract

Patient safety remains a central concern in healthcare, shaped by a complex interaction of organizational, behavioral, and technological factors. This study reviews existing literature to identify key predictors influencing patient safety across healthcare organizations. Findings reveal that organizational safety culture, leadership behavior, staffing adequacy, communication quality, teamwork, and technological integration consistently emerge as major determinants of safety performance. Additional influences include error reporting practices, regulatory pressures, and the growing complexity of healthcare systems. The review highlights that these predictors do not operate independently but interact dynamically to shape clinical environments and outcomes. Effective leadership, supportive culture, and adequate staffing create the foundation for improved safety, while technology and reporting systems enhance accuracy and learning when properly implemented. Overall, the study emphasizes the need for integrated, system-wide approaches to strengthen patient safety and guide future research and organizational improvement.
