Critical Thinking is often referred to as the locus of control in the Educational lexicon and Pedagogy. It is the ability to interpret and analyze the concept or phenomenon under consideration. Developing critical thinking among learners is extremely important so to make the education system goal-oriented and to achieve outcome-based learning. The modern classrooms are characterized by a diversity of different kinds. These diversities are marked by language, culture, gender, aptitude, and such other variables. Therefore it is pertinent to reflect upon the development of critical thinking in the context of language, culture, and such forms of differentiation. Moreover, it is also important to understand how critical thinking as a skill as well as a domain is influenced by such determinants especially language. Language as a form of communication and means of comprehension plays a vital role in equipping learners with enumerable skills. The ability to cognize multiple languages is linked with critical thinking in myriad ways. Hence the paper entitled Developing Critical Thinking in Multilingual Classroom has been conceptualized with the objectives: to understand the ways and means of promoting critical thinking in a multilingual setting. It is also an endeavor to put forward the challenges in promoting critical thinking through the contemplation of different disciplines in a multilingual classroom. The paper is also an attempt to understand the need for nurturing critical thinking in a multilingual classroom environment. The paper is eventually an effort to elucidate the ideas and pursuits to make the multilingual classroom more relevant and a potential ground for the construction of new knowledge and conform towards the development of critical thinking skills among learners irrespective of their linguistic identity.
